17 Seconds Records are pleased to announce their latest signing, Fiction Faction.
Fiction Faction will release their debut single 'Apparitions' on 17 Seconds Records on January 31 (17SEC25). It will be coupled with the Nevada Base remix of 'A Fair Escape.' And like the best debut singles, it sounds like a call to arms.
The four-piece band meld post-punk influences with contemporary electronica. They have received radio support from the likes of Tom Robinson, Vic Galloway, Jim Gellatly and have previously been Steve Lamacq's unsigned record of the week. They recorded a live radio session for Vic Galloway's BBC Introducing in Scotland and been featured as a future scottish anthem on his Radio Scotland show too. The band are based in Glasgow and have supported the likes of Egyptian Hip-Hop, I Am Arrows, Harlem and The Neat. They've headlined Glasgow's famous PinUp Nights, as well as playing at the legendary Hope and Anchor in London's Islington and at music industry legend Alan McGee's club Death Disco. The Daily Record's Rick Fulton has tipped the band as ones to watch, as have the Scotsman's Radar blog and online magazine Is this Music? And they are building up a following across the blogosphere.
The band are David Richards (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals), Paul Mclean (Lead guitar, Vocals), John Paul Dunne (Bass, Backing Vocals) and Graeme Ellis (Drums, Backing Vocals). Amongst their influences they list artists such The Cure, Echo and The Bunnymen, Soft Cell, Blur, Kate Bush and XTC.
The single launch will take place on Friday January 28 at Glasgow's Admiral, with support from CD/EX (Chris Devotion and the Expectations).

FRESH AIR - 5/5
"This album is undoubtedly one of my favourites of this year and should establish The Last Battle as one of Edinburgh’s most important acts, alongside Meursault and Broken Records."
SONG, BY TOAD
"Most bands can come up with a ‘sound’ if they’re pushed, but few can actually write songs which exist as good songs, independent of whatever signature sound the band may have developed. This elusive skill it appears the Last Battle most certainly have, giving each song its own distinct character."
THE SCOTSMAN
"Low-Key Nu Folk Loveliness."
SIC MAGAZINE
"Indie-folk by way of Belle & Sebastian and Ballboy. The Last Battle are rather adept at melody, breathing life through the dusty annals of traditional folk and iconic Scots indie."
LAST YEARS GIRL
"Edinburgh's The Last Battle have made one of the greatest Scottish albums of 2010."
SUITCASE ORCHESTRA
"Proving that you can sound Scottish and not have to make your guitar sound like a set of bagpipes or be the bloody Proclaimers."
HAVE FUN AT DINNER
"Hauntingly Beautiful."
MUSIC NEWS SCOTLAND
"The Last Battle have a very sweet sound, a mix between Belle and Sebastian and The Velvet Underground

Chris Bradley New Album - "AT THE OUTPOST"
Released - 29th March 2010
UNPEELED UK
‘The Man I Love’ – one of the best songs in history of ever.’
'Bored Little Rosie' is simply outstanding.'
SUNDAY TIMES
'A big talent in the making.'
IS THIS MUSIC
'This is not an album that takes one song and gives you a dozen more on a similar and rapidly diminishing theme. [It] reminds me of Jeff Buckley in range, if not sound, making me want to play the album again and again. It's one of the strongest albums I've heard this year.'
SUNDAY HERALD
'As both performer and writer, Bradley has delivered a strong opening set.'
To describe him as a talented singer, songwriter and guitarist is rather like saying that Tiger Woods is quite good at golf, or that the Williams' sisters are rather good on the tennis court: an understatement that doesn't begin to get to grips with the facts. Quite simply, on the evidence of these songs he is one of the best.'
SIC MAGAZINE
"country-fried, toe-tapping sunshine" Rob Gannon".
